The mission of MIT is to advance knowledge and educate students in science, technology, and other areas of scholarship that will best serve the nation and the world in the 21st century. In furtherance of this mission, MIT is committed to ensuring that students understand the intended outcomes of academic programs and the methods for measuring those outcomes.
To that end, MIT is gathering and publishing learning outcomes and assessment plans for all degree programs, including the General Institute Requirements. A number of stakeholders are central to this work: department leadership, standing committees of the faculty, Institutional Research, the Registrar’s Office, and MIT’s Teaching and Learning Lab.
